Speaker Session D3: Sport, Regulation and Gambling

Anthony is captured by at least four things – the law, sport, people and power – and compelling when he speaks about what’s happening with an unfortunate mix of those elements. How has it come about that athletes are being required contractually to give up their common law privilege against self-incrimination, in circumstances where the Commonwealth Parliament refused to take that right away?

Now in his 20th year at the South Australian Bar, Anthony has a wide ranging and general trial and appellate practice, and a particular interest in sports law and related disciplinary issues. He has represented athletes and sporting bodies in a variety of situations, including the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
